Nagpur :-The Department of Psychiatry, AIIMS, Nagpur conducted an awareness program on “World Schizophrenia Day” for patients and their caregivers on 24 May 2023. The program was conducted under the guidance of the Honorable Executive Director, AIIMS, Nagpur Prof. M. Hanumantha Rao. Medical Superintendent (Incharge) Dr Samir Dwidmuthe was the chief guest and Dr. Suyog Jaiswal, Associate Professor of Psychiatry was the organizing chairperson of the program. This event focused on creating awareness and addressing the stigma surrounding the severe mental illness, Schizophrenia. At the end of the program, as a token of appreciation for their devoted caregiving, caregivers of the patients were awarded the “Caregiver Appreciation Award” at the hands of the chief guest. Dr. Sonakshi Jyrwa, Assistant Professor of Psychiatry concluded the program with a formal vote of thanks. This Awareness program was conducted in collaboration with the Tele-MANAS Mentoring unit (TMMU) at AIIMS, Nagpur. The program was successfully organized by the dedicated teamwork of Diksha Sadar, psychiatric social worker; Dr. Jeel Vasa, psychiatry PG resident, and the active support of the department and TMMU staff, Leea Wankar, Vikas Kamble, and Manoj Mahajan.
