NAGPUR: A 6-member team of Asian Development Bank (ADB) visited Nagpur Metro Project. During its three-day visit, the team inspected the completed Phase-I of Nagpur Metro Project and sought detailed information about Phase-II. The team members visited various areas under the project, traveled by metro and interacted with commuters to understand their viewpoint.
Headquartered in Manila, the capital city of Philippines, ADB was established in 1966 and has 68 members as of now. This bank provides financial assistance to countries in Asia and the Pacific region. The ADB team that visited Nagpur Metro project included, Mukund Sinha, Sharad Saxena, Kaushal Sabu, Maria Larin, Suva Lakshmi Sen and Yatomi.
As part of three-day tour, the ADB team arrived at Metro Bhawan on the first day. Senior officials of Maha Metro gave detailed information about Nagpur Metro Rail Project Phase-1 and Phase-2. In the meeting, senior officials of Metro also shared information about the work done in the fields of passenger facilities, feeder services, security, solar energy, and environment protection.
ADB team members interacted with Maha Metro MD Dr Brijesh Dixit through video conferencing. Dr Dixit gave information about the initial works of Phase-2. The team visited various stations under Phase-II and interacted with passengers and citizens while traveling in Metro train. The members also held discussion with officers and employees at metro stations.
Expressing utmost satisfaction at world-class transport facility available in Nagpur, the commuters said that the arrival of the Metro has added to the beauty of the city. The Bank’s team inspected the metro lines planned for Phase-II – Automotive Chowk Metro Station to Kanhan, Prajapati Nagar to Transport Nagar, Lokmanya Nagar to Hingana and Khapari to Butibori.
The members also visited Little Wood on Hingana Road. Officials spoke about the work done by Maha Metro in the field of environment protection. The team appreciated the functioning of Sitabardi interchange station and construction of station building. Took information about the facilities of passengers at Khapari metro station.
