Nagpur :- During the tenure of the then Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, side middle berths were installed in Garib Rath Express along with most of the trains. Due to which the passengers had to face a lot of trouble. After registering a strong protest by Pravin Dabli from Nagpur, it started protesting all over the country. After strong protest, instructions were given to remove the side middle berth from all the trains. But even today that berth is occupied in the Nagpur-Pune ‘Garib Rath’ being run in the name of the poor.
Passengers have to travel through these berths with great difficulty. Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav gave a poor chariot but along with it a troublesome journey. The question is that when the middle berth gives trouble in other trains, it also gives trouble in this one. The then Divisional Railway Manager also realized this at the local level and agreed that it does cause trouble.
The issue was raised by the then ZRUCC member Pravin Dabli with General Manager Arunendra Kumar. Realizing the seriousness of the issue, a proposal to remove this berth was sent to the Railway Board on 7-9-2012 by the then General Manager. But no action has been taken on this also. The Divisional Railway Manager and the General Manager have also felt the inconvenience on this berth during the journey.
Rail friend and former ZRUCC member Dr. Pravin Dabli has urged the railway administration to remove the side middle berth from the Nagpur-Pune Garib Rath and make the journey of the poor in the Garib Rath easier.
