NAGPUR :- In a groundbreaking move aimed at further digital transformation and passenger convenience, Nagpur Maha Metro has launched Ticketing service over WhatsApp. The service was formally inaugurated by Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Nitin Gadkari, today [18th June] at Ravi Bhavan.
This innovative service aims to provide a seamless and user-friendly experience for metro commuters by leveraging the widely-used messaging platform, WhatsApp. Passengers can now easily book their metro tickets, receive updates, and access essential travel information right at their fingertips.
Nitin Gadkari unveiled the new service and demonstrated its functionality, highlighting the government’s commitment to embracing digital solutions for public convenience and efficient urban transportation. The new system would mean paperless ticketing and would thus contribute to environment conservation.
Technological innovations are being registered every passing day and the young generation especially the students in particular, has been using these innovations for their benefit. I urge this new generation to use Nagpur Metro’s WhatsApp Ticketing Service for their daily commute,’’ said Maha Metro MD Sravan Hardikar.
While the digital payment at the national level is picking up fast, Maha Metro Nagpur has also a major role to play. And it’s well explained from the fact that of the total Fare Box Revenue generated on a given day, about 34 % payment is through Maha Card, while Unified Payments Interface (UPI) and the Maha Metro App together account for over 12 % of total Fare Box Revenue. Thus, of the total Fare Box Revenue generated on any given day, the collective earnings through the various digital payment modes are more than 46 %.
In addition, this e-ticketing initiative promotes sustainability by offering a paperless alternative, significantly reducing environmental impact and carbon footprints for years to come. This project has accelerated and come to life due to integrations with industry partners such as AurionPro, SBI, Meta and Billeasy.
