Nagpur :- Division of Central Railway has initiated an intensive drive to address the persistent issue of unauthorized vending on-board trains and at major stations. The comprehensive operation, led by a dedicated team comprising Commercial Officers, Commercial Inspectors, and Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel, is being conducted daily across key sections, including Nagpur–Itarsi, Nagpur–Wardha–Badnera, and Nagpur–Sewagram–Ballarshah.
Simultaneously, another team of Commercial Inspectors is focusing on station premises at Nagpur, Betul, Wardha, Ballarshah, and Chandrapur. Over the past four days, the drive has resulted in the apprehension and prosecution of 53 unauthorized vendors across the division. Substandard and unhygienic food items were confiscated and destroyed, ensuring passenger safety and maintaining hygiene standards.
Aman Mittal, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (Sr. DCM), has urged passengers to purchase food and beverages exclusively from authorized vendors, such as pantry cars and licensed stalls at railway stations, emphasizing the safety risks associated with consuming items sold by unauthorized vendors.
To maintain the effectiveness and element of surprise, the operational teams are provided with their routes and train assignments at the last moment. This strategy has significantly curtailed unauthorized vending activities, especially as the division prepares for the anticipated surge in passenger traffic during the upcoming Christmas vacation period.
This proactive initiative is expected to enhance passenger safety and improve the travel experience across the division, ensuring hygienic and reliable services for all railway users.
