Nagpur :- The hard-earned provident and pension fund of Rs 1.5 lakh crore of coal workers is managed by the CMPF organization based in Dhanbad. The Commissioner is its head. The Chairman of the Board of Trustees is the Secretary, Ministry of Coal, Government of India. Unfortunately, the headquarters of the CMPF organization is Has become a den of corruption. A huge amount of Rs 1390.25 crore was invested in Dewan Housing Finance Limited during the year 2015-2018. Although the fund managers had informed the organization about the downgrade in rating, the concerned CMPFO The authorities did not take appropriate steps in time for prompt redemption of non-convertible debentures, resulting in a loss of Rs 727.67 crore. CAG has also made serious objections/observations in the annual accounts/reports. Similarly, during the year 2011-2014, Rs 102.43 crore in Infrastructure Leasing & Financial Services (IL&FS) and Rs 150 crore in Reliance Capital (R CAP) Investments were made. But before the companies went into liquidation, no steps were taken by the CMPF authorities to return the amount, which is likely to cause huge losses to the CMPFO. Also, it is not known how much was invested in the private companies. What has been done, and what will be its future? There is no transparency in the CMPF organization.
To improve the irregularities in CMPF, several suggestions were given by K. Lakshma Reddy Coal Incharge, Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, New Delhi, such as CBI inquiry into the scam, appointment of an efficient Commissioner with financial background and experience, improvement in the administration and management of CMPFO. Transparency should be brought in the functioning, investment should not be made in private institutions unless the Government of India gives guarantee, Provident Fund Commissioner Secretary should be made accountable, have been given. As part of a detailed agitation program by Akhil Bhartiya khadan Majdoor Sangh (ABKMS), demonstration in front of all Area General Managers’ Office on 11.01.2024, massive demonstration in front of CMPF Regional Commissioner Office, Ranchi on 12.02.2024, on 15 February 2024. A huge protest demonstration will be held in front of CMPF Headquarters, Dhanbad and on 23 February 2024, in front of Coal India Headquarters, Kolkata regarding the scam taking place in CMPFO. According to the decision of Akhil Bhartiya khadan Majdoor Sangh (ABKMS), the Industrial wing of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, in the first phase of the movement to completely stop the rigging in Coal Mine Provident Fund CMPF, for the purpose of getting the CBI investigation done, a memorandum was submitted to Nagpur Constituency MP, Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari and Ramtek Constituency MP Kripal Tumane on 31.12.2023 by the officials of Bhartiya Koyla khadan Majdoor Sangh (BMS), Nagpur-Umred Both MP were brifed in detail information about the scam taking place in CMPFO.
