Nagpur :- Even a light drizzle couldn’t dampen the patriotic fervour and spirit with which every Centre Pointer at Wardhaman Nagar commemorated the 77th Independence Day of our great nation. Before a sea of enthused eyes in school and tri-colour hues, the celebrations began with our respected Principal, Kanchan Ukey hoisting the National Flag followed by the rendering of the National Anthem and a smart salute paying tribute to our beloved motherland.
Remembering and honouring the countless sacrifices of our freedom fighters, the programme continued with some impassioned speeches by our School Captain, Jayesh Gajbhiye and Harsh Jaiswal (Class 10) who truly captured the essence of our freedom in their words. A group poem recitation and a well-rehearsed stage presentation by children of Classes 4 and 5 took the audience on a journey through history on the life of our freedom fighters while a dramatic skit by Classes 6,7 and 8 showcased the victory of Virtues over Vices. A beautifully choreographed dance by Student Council members portrayed the spirit of patriotism while the Indian Music choir, as always ignited the patriotic spark with their melodious renditions. The show-stopper was staged members of our staff and the support staff, bringing to life the spirit of unity and harmony through the song ‘Mile Sur Mera Tumhara’.
Addressing the youngsters, our Vice Principal Deepa Chakraborty rightfully opined that none of us had a personal experience of the freedom struggles but independence still had a lot of meaning for each of us. She went on to elaborate on the meaning of modern day freedom that we, the freedom fighters of today had to fight for.
Post the cheerful dispersal of children to the beats of ‘Kadam kadam’, the entire staff of the school showed its solidarity by assembling to make a spiral formation signifying our dynamic nature. A memorable staff photograph in every hue of green, orange, white and blue was a fitting finale to a celebratory morning!
