Nagpur :- The Lady Entrepreneurs Wing of Vidarbha Industries Association conducted a workshop on “Regulatory Requirements of Drug Manufacturing & Food Processing Industries” with the Food & Drug Administration on 16th June, 2023 at VIA Auditorium, Nagpur.
Earlier, Poonam Lala, Chairperson VIALEW & team members welcomed the Chief Guest and expert speakers with floral bouquets and mementos. In her welcome address she briefed about the organizing this workshop is to update about the Rules & Regulations, QMS required to MSMEs for manufacturing of food and drug.
On this occasion, Past Chairperson of VIA LEW, Y Ramani, Proprietress of Artefakt Nagpur Dolls was felicitated by VIA LEW Team members for permanently displayed her creative dolls at the Art Gallery of the New Parliament House, New Delhi, which was inaugurated on 28.05.2023. The 64 dolls depicted the rich cultural heritage of folk dances from different States of India. Ramani also shared her business journey and expressed thanks to VIA for providing platform, encouragement and support to me as well as for budding entrepreneurs during her initial stage. She exhibited her dolls in various countries and participated in many National and International craft exhibitions. She bagged many awards to her credit.
Chief Guest Viraj Paunikar, Joint Commissioner (Drugs) of Food & Drugs Administration, Nagpur guided the participants and said for setting up of any food processing or a pharmaceutical manufacturing unit, the standards are more stringent, which require more norms to follow, if anyone follows all these, these will provide more opportunities and benefits in their ventures. He said, Govt is providing more financial support to the lady through various schemes, who wish to start her venture. He appreciated lady entrepreneurs/house wives because she is self-motivated and very hard working. Now a days, lady entrepreneurs are managing her business as well as her family so well.
Dr P M Ballal, Asstt Commissioner of FDA, Nagpur conducted a session on “Regulatory Role of FDA in Drug Manufacturing & Selling Establishments”. He explained about requirement of licences for manufacturing of drugs like Allopathic, Homeopathic, Ayurvedic and Cosmetics, and these drugs should be tested and approved by any NABL Accredited Labs. He briefed about Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) ensures that products are consistently produced and controlled according to Quality Standards. He said GMP should be designed to ensure that mistakes do not occur and detailed written procedures are essential for each process that could affect the quality of the finished product.
Rohan Shaha, Asstt Commissioner (Food) of FDA, Nagpur gave a presentation on Role of FDA in Food Processing Industries. He also cited examples of units. He said the government is more cautious about the safety of the public. Food and Drug manufacturing units should follow all safety norms, otherwise there is a provision of punishment like life imprisonment and heavy penalty.
Amandeep Kaur Sehmi, Founder of Bioexcel Lifesciences & Research said regulatory compliances play a very crucial role for Drugs, Medical Devices, Ayurvedic & Cosmetic Industries. Quality Management System is a set of procedures and practices contributing to product quality. Regulatory Compliances varies from different country to country.
Project Directors, Manisha Bawankar and Shikha Khare jointly conducted the proceedings, introduced the speakers and moderated the Q&A Session. Rashmi Kulkarni, Secretary – VIALEW proposed a formal vote of thanks.
VIA also felicitated Former Mayor of Nagpur Dayashankar Tiwari, who was recently appointed by the Ministry of Coal, Govt of India to the post of Independent Director of Mahanadi Coal India Limited.
