NAGPUR: The first test match between India and Australia would be played at VCA Stadium, Jamtha from tomorrow (9th February). The match would be played from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm. Maha Metro services are available for cricket lovers from 6 am to 10 pm as usual on all the playing days, up to New Airport Metro or Khapri Metro Station from all Metro Stations including the terminal stations – Lokmanya Nagar, Automotive Square and Prajapati Nagar.
Metro trains ply with a frequency of 15 minutes throughout the day, except between 3 pm to 7 pm, when the trains will operate every 12 minutes. The metro train frequency has been increased from 3 pm to 7 pm to facilitate faster transportation services for cricket lovers, after the play for the day is over. Match will be played from 9th to 13th February.
VCA Jamtha Stadium is 7 and 6 km away from New Airport and Khapri Metro Stations respectively. E-rickshaws will be available at New Airport and Khapri Metro Station on payment basis for Jamtha Stadium & back. This is not the first time and Nagpur Metro had made similar arrangements to enable cricket buffs to travel when one day international match was played between the same two teams on 23rd September last year.
Maha Metro had also extended the train timings then to accommodate the last spectator as it was day-night match. Maha Metro urges cricket loving Nagpurians to travel by Metro to avoid congestion on roads and also for faster travel.
