Mumbai :- Maharashtra Governor Ramesh Bais gave a reception to the entire contingent of Maharashtra NCC for winning the prestigious Prime Minister’s Banner, at Raj Bhavan Mumbai on Thursday (1 Feb).
The Maharashtra contingent of NCC won the Prime Minister’s Banner for the third consecutive year at the Republic Day Camp held in New Delhi.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor called upon the youths to join organisations like NSS and NSS where qualities of discipline and patriotism are imbibed among the youth. The Governor said he had been an NCC Cadet himself and had obtained a ‘C’ Certificate while in NCC.
The Governor said, citizens must learn the qualities of discipline and observe civic rules as the country aspires to become a developed nation.
Additional Director General NCC Maharashtra Maj.Gen. Yogendra Singh said that the Maharashtra NCC had won the Prime Minister’s Banner for the 23rd time. He said Maharashtra NCC had scored a hattrick on four occasions. He said that many NCC pass candidates had joined the armed forces and as ‘Agniveers’.
At the Reception, the Governor inspected the medals and trophies won by the contingent and felicitated the winners of Gold, Silver and Bronze medals in various competitions.
Col. M. Devaiah Muthappa, Brig. Vikrant Kulkarni and other officers were present.
