Swift Action by RPF Saves Two Women, Reunites Them with Families

Nagpur :- Central Railway’s Nagpur Division has once again demonstrated its commitment to passenger welfare and safety. On January 16, 2025, a coordinated effort by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and local police successfully ensured the safe return of two young women to their families. The swift action highlights the dedication of railway authorities to protect and assist passengers in need.

The incident came to light on January 15, 2025, when the District Social and Child Rights (DSCR) office in Nagpur informed authorities about two young women traveling under suspicious circumstances aboard Train No. 22691 Hazrat Nizamuddin Rajdhani Express. Shri A.J. Nataraj, the On-Duty Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE), acted promptly by notifying the RPF at Balharshah station.

Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Sushila Wyam of the RPF took immediate charge upon receiving the information. She conducted a compassionate inquiry with the two women, during which they revealed their identities and admitted to leaving their homes without informing their families. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, the RPF prioritized their safety and began efforts to contact their families.

The first woman’s family was informed and reassured of her safety. Following a medical check-up, she was handed over to the Sakhi One Stop Centre in Chandrapur in compliance with legal procedures. Her family arrived the next morning to take her home.

In the case of the second woman, her family confirmed that an FIR had already been registered with local police. They arrived in Balharshah on January 16, 2025, and, after completing the necessary legal formalities and obtaining her consent, she was reunited with her family.

This operation was a testament to the seamless collaboration between the RPF, Central Railway’s staff, and local law enforcement authorities. Their timely response and efficient handling of the case ensured the safety and well-being of the individuals involved.

The Central Railway’s Nagpur Division continues to uphold its commitment to passenger safety and welfare. The exemplary efforts of the RPF and the cooperation of local authorities underline the importance of vigilance and swift action in addressing critical situations.
