Nagpur :- Nagpur Smart and Sustainable City Development Corporation Limited (NSSCDCL) has installed around 350 ICT based smart bins at 175 spots various parts of the city to maintain cleanliness. Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has provided these locations to the Smart City for the installation of Bins. Ajay Gulhane, Chief Executive Officer of Nagpur Smart City, informed that Smart City has installed two bins- one for dry waste and other for wet waste for the citizens. The citizens can drop garbage into these bins that can be tracked by central system installed in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee City Operation Centre at NMC building, Civil Lines. As bins when fill with garbage volume sensor installed in the bins detects the level and as soon as the bins billed 80 percent or above sensor will generate alert to CoC and with a GSM and RFID based mechanism garbage will be disposed off properly and gives update at CoC.
NMC had conducted survey and identified some black spots, where citizens dropped the garbage on public places, he informed and said, these bins will be helpful to maintain cleanliness and cater the requirement of the citizens. The Smart City has identified around 200 spots where 400 smart bins will be installed at pilot basis. The capacity of each bin is around 1100 liters also these bins are split bins with 30 percent and 70 percent openable mechanism. It will equipped with volume, fire and toppled sensors. The Smart City has developed a Dashboard to monitor the alert based system.
