Nagpur :- On March 8th2025, College of Multidisciplinary Studies celebrated Women’s Day and conducted one day Seminar on “Rising Awareness on Sickle Cell Anemia”. In a bid to raise awareness about sickle cell anemia, our college organized a blood test camp . The event, held at the college auditorium, which brought together students, lecturers, and health professionals to discuss the impact of the disease and the importance of early testing.
Principal of CMS Dr. Debashis.Bhowmick also addressed the program by sharing his views and telling the importance of early diagnosis to the disease.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Vijaykumar Tungar, a Pathalogist and Bacteriologist with his team members Sampada Balpande and Pratiksha Deshmukh, (microbiologist) emphasized the importance of genotype testing before marriage. “Sickle cell is preventable when people know their genotype early. Education is the first step towards prevention,”Lok-kalyan Diagnostic Center , encouraged students to visit the clinic for genotype testing . Faculty members also took the opportunity to acknowledge the awareness of Sickle Cell and later the program was followed by “free blood camp”.The Program was organised by Microbiology Department, Dr. Sonali Chapde H.O.D of Science Department was the co-ordinator of the program and Priyanka Motghare anchored the program.
