In my previous blogs you read the dilemma both Sharad and Ajit Pawar are in. In this blog, let’s try to understand an underlying current that is going on in the political scenario of Maharashtra. I feel Sharad Pawar has bowled a Googly which has clean bowled the high command of the BJP sitting at the centre and few of them here in Maharashtra. Yes, read on if it is really a googly OR is the romance between Ajit Pawar and the BJP for real? Choice is yours, readers!
Now understand this blog with an open mind. I am thinking a bit out of the box here, but things are not as clear as they seem to be here in Maharashtra politics. Why and How did one fine day Ajit Pawar left the NCP and came to Fadnavis? After all, EKnath Shinde’s coup took 1.5 years of planning by the top brass of the BJP. Don’t they say what comes easy, won’t last long. I am a bit of a philosophical person and have a knack of always asking the question, WHY? I asked myself WHY did Ajit Pawar join Fadnavis and the BJP?
Let’s begin. Where is Ajit Pawar and camp currently placed, in the NDA right? And what is Sharad Pawar’s political stance currently; He is with INDIA (Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance) correct? Now see, let the 2024 Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections come. Scenario 1: What if NDA wins Loksabha and here in Maharashtra BJP retains power along with Eknath Shinde group. What will Ajit Pawar do? I feel he will stay put with the NDA and after the results it will come out that Ajit has convinced his uncle to come with the BJP and Sharad Pawar gave in to his nephew’s wishes. Already such news is floating around in the media that Ajit is yet trying to convince the veteran. I don’t think even if BJP comes to power they will ever make a Pawar CM here. But this is strictly my gut feel. Hence if BJP and Shinde faction win Vidhan Sabha here, it means all of them including Ajit Pawar, Hasan Mushriff, Chagan Bhujbal get cleansed yet again will be ready to be Ministers. Now If all goes well and BJP comes back to power at the Centre, my head says Sharad Pawar will join the NDA, securing a Ministerial birth for his daughter Supriya, and then only he will resign from active politics. Again, I am thinking out a loud!
Scenario 2, if the BJP does not come to power in Maharashtra, my head says Ajit Pawar will jump ship yet again along with his group and join INDIA. There will be tears everywhere in the family and yet again Trident will be a busy place. At the same time if the BJP fails to come to power at the Centre, automatically Sharad Pawar becomes powerful and ‘family reunion’ will happen yet again as it did in 2019. Ajit Pawar may become the CM here in Maharashtra as both Congress and Shivsena (UBT) will be in no bargaining position.
Now morally, even today the BJP cannot take any action or make arrests or do anything with all their agencies and we all know what NCP leaders have done till now in Maharashtra. But one thing is for sure, Ajit will fight tooth and nail to gather Loksabha seats from Maharashtra for the NDA. If in 2024 they lose the power at the Centre, obviously there is no question about a finger being laid on the likes of Ajit Pawar, Mushrif, Bhujbal and Praful Patel as BJP will be in the opposition and in no position to control any agencies.
So who is at loss here? I feel it is the BJP both here and at the centre if even at one place powers shift hands. Sharad Pawar has played a master stroke by sending Ajit and all with Maharashtra BJP. He knew if he joins the NDA, it will be an embarrassing situation for him in front of INDIA and he will receive a lot of flak. I am still shocked as to how the likes of Chagan Bhujbal, Praful patel and even Dilip Walse Patil have come with the BJP as all of these 3 have the Sharad Pawar tag.
Pawar has played his game extremely well which I feel many have failed to understand. Tell me when the Shivsena broke, the UBT (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) group had asked so many questions to the Courts, Government and Speaker of the Assembly. Has Jayant Patil even asked Ajit Pawar a single question on the House floor to prove MLA’s and so and so forth. Has the Sharad Pawar group gone to Court. Has the symbol or party name even come up for discussion? The ongoing monsoon session is going on extremely well. This all leads to speculation that NCP has NOT split and again like last time Ajit and camp will get all the necessary clean chits and walk out from the NDA with heads held high.
