Nagpur :-Right to education is a Governments Initiative Under the fundamental right of every child to be provided free elementary education. The parents falling in the EWS category and those who cannot afford to pay the school fee of a private school have been greatly benefited by this initiative. Certain reputed and private schools who are registered under RTE have to compulsorily and mandatorily have to reserve 25% of their school seats to provide free education to the children of the parents falling under EWS.
To avail the benefits under RTE 25% reservation, certain eligibility criteria are defined which are as under.
Age Limit of the child: 3 years to 6 years presently.
A child of 3 years of age is eligible for RTE lottery Seat for free education from Nursery till eighth standard.
A child of 4 years of age is eligible for KG
A child of 6 years of age is eligible for 1st standard.
Presently the above is the criteria for allotment of a free seat to a child (as per the age)
For Nagpur, there is presently only one school that provides admission in Nursery standard till eighth standard (all branches of Bhavan’s follow the same rule.
For KG till Eighth standard only Sanjuba School, located at Bahadura Fata, Umred road provides free seats under RTE.
Apart from the above-mentioned schools all other schools that are registered with RTE offer seats from 1st standard till Eighth standard.
Points to pay attention to are:
Certain schools offer free seats under RTE that may be up to 4th standard, 5th standard, 6th standard or 7th standard. Though the school might be up to 12th standard, but RTE offers free education till 8th standard only. Parents have to choose the schools carefully so that later on they don’t end up paying fee for educating their child further till eighth standard.
In simple words its hard and fast that the maximum education provided under RTE 25% reservation is till eighth standard only. But on the flip side its not necessary that a chosen school will give your free education till eighth standard because schools clearly mention till which class they are offering the free seat under RTE (as per their agreement with the Education Department) So parents have to choose the school wisely so that they get free education till 8th standard.
Most schools offer RTE seats from standard 1st till 8th Standard, but a handful of them provide either till fourth, seventh or as per their declaration to the Education Department.
It is made clear to the parents that presently there are NO Schools that provide free seats till 10th Standard. The limit is till 8th standard only.
