Reaction to the Interim State Budget ’24 :: Dr. Dipen Agrawal President Chamber of Associations of Maharashtra Industry and Trade (CAMIT)

– The Interim Budget is a Fine Balance between Electoral Populism and Fiscal Discipline

Nagpur :- The second budget of Eknath Shinde as Chief Minister and first by Ajit Pawar as Finance Minister in this Government, has a clear focus on infrastructure and development. Maharashtra is indeed one of the leading states in terms of industrialization and overall development. Progress of the state is considered as a lead indicator for overall progress in the country. Being the financial capital of the country and having 48 Lok Sabha seats, second highest only to the state of Uttar Pradesh, investors and public at large look at the state budget with great deal of interest.

Announcements are not limited to development of Roads, Bridges, Industrial parks, etc. and Incentives under PSI scheme but the budget reflects the vision of DCM of Maharashtra being 1 trillion $ economy and its road map to achieve it.

Rs. 100 Cr Investment to develop infrastructure in MIHAN is positive for Nagpur.

World Bank assisted “Development of Applied Knowledge and Skills for Human Development” (DAKSH) project worth Rs. 2,307 crores is approved

Rs 450 crores in infrastructure development program to promote exports; Rs.400 crores to provide special incentives to exportable components; five Industrial Parks to promote exports

Sustainable tourism policy to promote tourism. Theme parks, adventure sports, shopping malls, water parks and accommodation at 50 new tourist destinations.

Thousands of crores allocated for Land acquisition for Roads, Railways, Bullet Train, Ports etc.

Having behind the mind overall development and increasing GDP of the state, the focus of the interim budget has been to Emphasis on infrastructure, thereby boosting Trade and Industry and help improving the overall quality of life of the people of the state and creating employment.

The Budget if is to be rated on a scale of 10 then we can safely give 8/10.
