Nagpur :- Defending champion Kunal Raut of Mahasagar has been given top billing in the singles category for the Ankur Seeds 2nd Carrom Tournament for Media Employees which begins from Saturday at Patrakar Club of Nagpur, Civil Lines from 9 am.
The tournament is organised by Patrakar Club of Nagpur and Sports Journalists’ Association of Nagpur (SJAN).
The tournament will be held at the air-conditioned hall of Press Club, situated opposite Institute of Science, Civil Lines.
Vijay Thakur of PTI has been seeded second in singles while Pankaj Najpande has been seeded third. In doubles, Vinod Suryawanshi and Kunal Raut are seeded top while Pankaj Najpande and Chittaranjan Nagdeote of Lokmat are seeded second.
The tournament will be inaugurated by officials of Ankur Seeds at 10 am.
A number of members of print, electronic media and portals have confirmed their participation for the tournament.
Press Club President Pradip Maitra, Secretary Bramhashankar Tripathi, Treasurer Shirish Borkar, SJAN President Dr Ram Thakur, SJAN Secretary Paritosh Pramanik, SJAN Treasurer Nilesh Deshpande, Tournament Convenor Charudatta Kahu and others are co-ordinating the event. Naval Meshram is the Chief Referee for the tournament. The prize distribution ceremony will be held on Sunday, August 6 at 2 pm.
The winners of singles event will be given cash prize of Rs 7,000 while the runners-up will get Rs 5,000. The third place finisher will get Rs 3,000.
The winners in doubles category will be given cash prize of Rs 10,000 while the runners-up will get Rs 7,000 and third place finishers will get Rs 5,000.
