Mapasa :- Venkatesh Kenche’s brace helped Maharashtra to a resounding 4-1 win over West Bengal in the Hockey National Games.
Venkatesh scored in the second minute to open Maharashtra’s account in the ongoing hockey league match at the Peddem Sports Complex in Mapasa. Then in the 11th minute, Venkatesh scored another field goal to give Maharashtra a 2-0 lead in the first session. Then in the 16th minute of the second session, Ajinkya Jadhav scored a field goal to increase the lead to 3-0. Later in the 21st minute, Rajendra Oram scored Bengal’s first goal.
But Maharashtra still had a dominant 3-1 lead at the interval. In the last minute of the third session (45th minute), Talib Shah added the fourth goal to Maharashtra’s account. Then in the fourth session, both the teams failed to score. With three wins from three matches, Maharashtra have almost sealed their play-off spot with a total of 9 points. Maharashtra’s last league match will be against Haryana on Sunday.
