Mumbai :- The India Meteorological department (IMD) has warned of heavy rains in Mumbai and some districts of Konkan today. Similarly, warning regarding rains in some other districts has also been given. Keeping this in view, the Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has given instructions that SDRF, District Administration, Police, Municipal Corporations, Municipalities should be vigilant and help the citizens in all possible ways, whenever required.
The Chief Minister has given instructions that all the administrations should be alert and seek information from the Meteorological department as well as the Disaster Management Unit from time to time and make plan, accordingly.
He had directed to make a survey about the areas prone to mishaps and alert the citizens about it. Preparedness of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) should be high, he said.
He also instructed to determine the water level of dams and lakes and provide controlled discharge system should so as to prevent the risk of possible flooding.
The chief minister further said that in case of flood situation, traffic in such areas should be stopped and diverted by the alternative routes and coordination should be done with the Meteorological department. He said that information about various alerts (warnings) given by the IMD should be made known to the citizens as early as possible.
He issued directions that the food grains, medicines and relief materials should be made available in flood affected areas. He asked them to provide provisional shelters and make arrangements to shift the cattles and other animals in case of flood situation.
Chief Minister Shinde asked the administration to be vigilant and ensure that citizens do not face any kind of problems and hardships.
