Nagpur :- “Artificial Intelligence (AI) has opened new pathways for media professionals to become more information-efficient. The limitations previously faced in acquiring knowledge in our mother tongue have been significantly reduced through AI,” stated Brijesh Singh, Principal Secretary and Director General of Information and Public Relations, during a special session at Nagpur Press Club.
Speaking at a program on ‘Artificial Intelligence in Journalism’ organized jointly by Nagpur Press Club and DGIPR’s Nagpur Directorate, Singh emphasized that instead of avoiding AI, it’s our collective responsibility to understand and perfect this technology through proper usage.
Singh cautioned that while concerns about job losses due to new technology are common, history has shown that technology creates new opportunities. He stressed the importance of fact-checking AI-generated content and ensuring its constitutional and ethical compliance.
The event was presided over by former State Information Commissioner Rahul Pande, who emphasized developing AI tools with an Indian perspective. Nagpur Press Club President Pradeep Maitr, DGIPR Regional Director Dr. Ganesh Mule, Information Director Kishore Gangurde, and Dayanand Kamble were present at the event.
The lecture was also attended online by district information offices across Maharashtra and various journalism institutions.
