1st Edition of INTER PROFESSIONAL TRAUMA SYMPOSIUM by ALEXIS MULTISPECIALITY HOSPITAL

Nagpur :- Accidents remain a major cause of death and disability in India and it is often possible to minimize the consequences of accident through effective pre-hospital and hospital-based trauma care. Patient with multiple injuries will need various specialties in trauma care for treatment with multi-disciplinary approach. This platform of Inter Professional Trauma Symposium (IPTS) was conceptualised with the purpose of bringing all those specialists under one roof. Expert specialists demonstrated, delivered, educated and discussed about current, basic as well as advanced care protocols in polytrauma management. It is first of its kind symposium hosted in Central India by Alexis Multispeciality Hospital in association with Association of Medical Faculties (AMF) for the benefit of everyone handling trauma victims. It was beneficial for maximizing patient care with critical injuries and improving coordination amongst various specialists for enhancing outcomes.

First inaugural IPTS session was held on 23 April from 9am to 6pm at Alexis Multispecialty Hospital with the support of expert specialists consisting of ER specialists, Critical Care physicians, orthopaedic surgeons, , neurosurgeons, General surgeons, Plastic surgeons and Anaesthesiologists along with all the support staff involved in acute trauma care. Alexis Multispeciality hospital being the only JCI accredited hospital in Central India having Level I trauma care facilities is a leading trauma centre in the city. Symposium highlights include dedicated capsule talks and cases by eminent faculty, panel discussion, interactive sessions and Skill stations for practical demonstration.

Dr Girish Narayan, Professor, Emergency Medicine specialist from St. John’s Hospital, Bengaluru was the guest faculty who delivered talks on ATLS protocols, Current advances and Communications in trauma care. Dr Tushar Gawad, Director Administration, Alexis Hospital along with the IPTS committee inaugurated the symposium. Dr Manoj Pahukar, Senior Orthopaedic Consultant, Alexis Hospital was organising chairman along with Dr Aditya Atal, Secretary, Dr Rahul Hiwanj, Skill Station In-charge, Dr V Niranjani, Coordinator IPTS and AMF President, Dr Imran Mohammad and Secretary, Dr Asif Qureshi and Dr. Aashish Dhage, Senior Hospital Administrator at Alexis Hospital. Many renowned faculties across the region handling trauma care shared their experiences on trauma management. Team of specialists involved in trauma care from Alexis Hospital presented their complex trauma cases. IPTS was a dedicated, focused, knowledge enriching, horizon widening and accentuating teamwork for synergy in trauma care. The first IPTS symposium was attended by delegates from across the region and received tremendous response and was highly appreciated with a grand successful event.
