Nagpur :- Eco Mine Tourism is an initiative to educate and inform students and the society at large about the Coal mines, mining processes while making it joyful and practical at the same time. In order to promote Eco Mine Tourism, WCL has signed an MoU with the Directorate of Tourism on the World Tourism Day on 27th September, 2022. As per the MoU, tourists will visit Saoner Underground Mine, Gondegaon Mine, Adasa Open Cast Mine, Adasa Temple and Mahatma Gandhi Eco Park at Saoner. The effort is to disseminate knowledge about Coal mining in the easiest way possible, making the process light & purposeful for the visitors.
The MoU was signed by CMD, WCL, Manoj Kumar and Milind Borikar IAS, Director, Directorate of Tourism. The MoU was signed at a function in Mumbai, to commemorate the World Tourism Day, in the august presence of Minister of Tourism Mangalprabhat Lodha and the Assistant Chief Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, Maharashtra Nitin Karir. On the occasion, General Manager (Administration/PR), WCL, Narendra Kumar and RSO, Mumbai, Anand Tembhurnikar, were also present.
The MoU between WCL and Directorate of Tourism will be valid for a period of 5 years. As per the MoU, the booking from the tourists will be the responsibility of the Directorate of Tourism and their associated offices. In each instance, 6 to 20 people will be clubbed for the Eco Mine visit.
With this MoU, the students, experts and general audience interested in coal mining will get an opportunity to understand Coal Mines, mining operations and its various aspects in a simple and engaging way.
