Srinagar, 30 Dec 2021. On receipt of specific input regarding presence of two to three unidentified terrorists in the vicinity of village Mirhama, Kulgam, the Indian Army and JKP launched a cordon and search operation in the night of 29 Dec 21. The village was subsequently cordoned off by the Security forces and search for the terrorists commenced. The Security Forces received further on site inputs that indicated the terrorists had taken shelter in one of the houses in the village. The Forces in a deliberate and diligent action isolated the house and started blocking all escape routes. While the initial cordon was being laid, the terrorists opened indiscriminate fire on the Security Forces. With swift retaliation with accurate gunfire three terrorists were neutralised. One of the soldiers received a gunshot wound during the gunfight and was immediately evacuated. During the course of the entire operation, the safety and security of the civilians in the area was ensured. Two of the three neutralised terrorists were subsequently identified by JKP as Uzair Ah Bhat and Mohd Shafi Dar. The third terrorist was a Pakistan national whose identity is yet to be ascertained. War like stores were recovered from the encounter site.
As per JKP, one of the terrorist killed today was identified as Uzair Ah Bhat, a 22 year old resident of Mirhama, Kulgam, a category “C” terrorist who was recruited into Hizbul Mujahideen(HM) on 25 May 21. He was probably assisting the Pakistani terrorist in carrying out civilian killings and standoff attacks on Security Forces.
Other terrorist was Mohd Shafi Dar, a 25 year old resident of Teli Moh, Wagad, a category “C” terrorist who was recruited into Jaish -e- Mohhamed(JeM) on 05 Dec 21. He was probably influenced to accompany the Pakistani terrorist in order to support his nefarious activities.
The Security Forces have eliminated the three terrorists without regard for their own safety, and made a significant contribution towards the safety and security of the local populace.
