NAGPUR :- The Chief Secretary of Maharashtra Smt. Sujata Saunik (IAS) today inspected the ongoing Maha Metro projects at Nagpur, Pune and Thane. The Chief Secretary (CS) conducted the review meeting at Metro Bhawan, here, today. Maha Metro MD Shravan Hardikar briefed Saunik about the ongoing projects and the progress achieved till now.
The CS visited Experience Centre, City Centre Model, Operation Control Centre (OCC) at the Metro Bhawan. She was briefed about the overall Maha Metro working and various facets of train operations. A presentation on DotNet, 6D BIM Mode, the various challenges faced during the execution of the project was given in the meeting.
During the review meeting she was briefed about the pending issues at the Mantralaya level. The CS assured to take up the issues on a priority basis. She also called for proper synchronization with Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) for providing first and last mile connectivity. This will facilitate wider use of Public Transport as public would prefer commuting with public transport,’’ Saunik added.
The use of public transport would ensure savings for the commuters, while simultaneously ensure Green Transport. The CS also called for taking steps to encourage and promote local artworks and cuisine by providing commercial spaces to such entities at Metro Stations. The city has been blessed with state-of-art Metro project. It is matter of pride that international level transport services have been provided Nagpur and Pune in the form of Metro, she said and added that the fares are affordable for the common public.
The Municipal Commissioner Abhijit Chaudhari, Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT) Chairman Sanjay Meena, Director (Strategic Planning) Anil Kokate, Director (Finance) Shri Harendra Pandey, Director (Project) Rajiv Tyagi and other Maha Metro officials were present during the meeting.
