Maha Governor attends 49th Raising Day of Coast Guard

Mumbai :-Maharashtra Governor C. P. Radhakrishnan attended the 49th Raising Day of Indian Coast Guard organized by the Headquarters of Indian Coast Guard, Western Region in Mumbai on Sat (1 Feb)

Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said with over 151 ships, 78 aircraft, and 46 advanced Radar Stations, the Indian Coast Guard has become the fourth-largest Coast Guard globally.

He said as part of its ambitious modernization plans, the force is set to grow to a fleet of 200 ships and 100 aircraft, further cementing its position as a pillar of maritime security.

The Governor complimented the Coast Guard for keeping a vast area of India’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) under 24×7 surveillance.

He applauded the Indian Coast Guard for playing a crucial role during the relief and rescue operations following the devastating floods in Gujarat and Kerala.

He praised the Coast Guard’s environmental initiatives, including beach clean-ups and tree plantations, etc.

The Governor was welcomed by the Additional Director General A K Harbola, PTM, TM , Coast Guard Commander (WS) and Inspector General Bhisham Sharma PTM, TM , Commander, Coast Guard Region (West) on this occasion.

The Governor interacted with officers, staff and their family members over refreshments. He complimented the Coast Guard for its services to the nation.

The Governor witnessed a cultural and music programme organised on the occasion. Pt Rahul Sharma presented a Santoor performance. He was accompanied by Pt Aditya Kalyanpur on the Tabla.

Vice Admiral Sanjay J Singh, AVSM, NM, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Naval Command and other senior officers were present.
