Mumbai :- Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari inaugurated the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund Collection Drive by making a donation to the Flag Fund at Raj Bhavan Mumbai on Wed (7 Dec). The Flag Day was organised jointly by Mumbai City and Suburban districts on the occasion of Armed Forces Flag Day, which is celebrated every year on 7 December.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor praised the contribution of the armed forces of India in safeguarding the territorial integrity of the nation. He appealed to the people to donate generously to the Flag Fund.
Mumbai Suburban district collector Nidhi Chaudhari informed that the districts of Mumbai City and Suburban had raised a sum of Rs. 6.5 crore during the year gone by. Mumbai City Collector Rajiv Nivatkar delivered the welcome speech.
Lt Gen H S Kahlon, General Officer Commanding, Maharashtra, Goa and Gujarat Area, Vice Admiral Krishna Swaminathan, Air Vice Marshal Rajat Mohan, Air Officer Commanding, Maritime Air Operations, Principal Secretary, Government of Maharashtra Seema Vyas, Director of the Department of Sainik Welfare Rajesh Patil and representatives of various organizations contributing to the Flag Fund were present on the occasion.
The Governor felicitated representatives of various donor organizations on this occasion. The book ‘Maharathi Maharashtrache – Part 3’ by Dilip Gupte was released on the occasion. EkIndia Rings were presented to the family members of the martyrs on the occasion. Representatives of some organizations handed over their donation cheques to the Governor.
