– Japan should help Maharashtra in mushroom, mango production: Governor Radhakrishnan
Mumbai :-Japan and India are natural partners of each other and the relations between the two countries are at the highest level. This was stated by the Consul General of Japan in Mumbai Yagi Koji during a courtesy call on Maharashtra Governor C P Radhakrishnan at Raj Bhavan Mumbai on Thursday (24 Oct)
Stating that Japan has extended cooperation to the State in the Metro Line, Atal Setu and High Speed train project, he said his country has a very good relationship with Maharashtra. In this connection he said that Japan is working with Maharashtra in the area of skill training and teaching of the Japanese language.
Welcoming the Consul General, Governor Radhakrishnan told him that he had visited Tokyo and Osaka in his capacity as the Chairman of the Coir Board. Recalling that mushrooms grown in Japan are large in size, tasty and of excellent quality, he expressed the hope that Japan will help the farmers and women’s self-help groups in Maharashtra in the mushroom cultivation.
In this regard, the Governor called for promoting cooperation between the agricultural universities in Maharashtra and Japan.
Stating that the famous ‘Miyazaki’ mango from Japan is very tasty and fetches the highest value , the Governor said that Japan should also help the state to cultivate the special variety of mango in Maharashtra as that would benefit the farmers and tribal farmers in the State.
The Governor told Yagi Koji that as the Chancellor of the universities in the state, he will promote the teaching of Japanese language in the universities and towards that end organize a meeting of the vice chancellors of the State Universities with the officials of the Japan Foundation at Raj Bhavan.
The Governor expressed the hope that like Germany, Japan will also consider entering into a Joint Venture for the creation and export of skilled manpower from Maharashtra.
