Nagpur :- The Nagpur Division of Central Railway celebrated National Energy Conservation Week from December 11 to December 16, 2024, showcasing a strong commitment to sustainability and environmental awareness through a series of impactful activities.
Under the visionary leadership of Manish Agarwal, Divisional Railway Manager, the Electrical (General) Department led this initiative, engaging railway employees, students, and the local community to promote energy conservation practices.
The week commenced with a drawing competition on December 11, 2024, at Railway schools in Ajni. Students created inspiring artwork highlighting energy conservation themes. Winners were recognized with shields and certificates for their creative efforts.
On December 12, 2024, an energy conservation rally was conducted in Ajni Railway Colony, spreading awareness among residents about adopting energy-efficient practices.
A special session on electricity savings was organized on December 13, 2024, featuring P.S. Khairkar, Additional Divisional Railway Manager, Nagpur, Pratibha Gupta, Senior Divisional Electrical Engineer (General), and Sanjeev S. Mankar, Assistant Divisional Electrical Engineer (General). Railway employees were educated on practical ways to save energy, and LED lamps were distributed to reinforce the message.
December 14, 2024, witnessed a large public rally in the Civil Lines area of Nagpur, furthering the awareness campaign and urging citizens to adopt energy-saving habits.
The week-long celebration concluded with a seminar on December 16, 2024, held at the Central Railway Hospital Auditorium in Nagpur. Dr. R.M. Moharil, Professor at YCCC College, Nagpur, delivered an enlightening session on global energy conservation practices and their relevance to Indian Railways, offering valuable strategies for reducing energy consumption.
The success of National Energy Conservation Week was driven by the efforts of Manish Agarwal, DRM, along with a dedicated team of officers and staff, including P.S. Khairkar, ADRM, Pratibha Gupta, Sr. DEE (General), and many others from the Electrical Department and associated teams.
This initiative reflects the commitment of Central Railway’s Nagpur Division to sustainability and environmental stewardship, inspiring employees and the community to contribute toward a greener future.
