Chief minister inaugurates 96th all India Marathi literary meet
Wardha – Stating that a kind of restlessness for larger good is responsible for creative writing as well as creating political leadership, chief minister Eknath Shinde today said that writers in a way are social leaders and while literature is the origin for writers as well as for political leadership which gives better direction to society, his government always respect guidance and suggestions from the luminaries from the field of literature. He was giving inaugural address today after inaugurating 96th all India Marathi literary meet.
The literary meet is organized at Wardha since Vidarbha Sahiya Sangh is celebrating centenary year and the main pandal of the meet has been named after Acharya Vinoba Bhave who was a prolific poet, writer and freedom fighter. The dais is named after noted writer Principal Ram Shewalkar. President of the literary meet retired justice Narendra Chapalgaonkar, minister for school education and minister for Marathi language Deepak Kesarkar, outgoing president Bharat Sasane, host for he meet former MP Datta Meghe, former Sahiya Akademi president Padmashree Dr. Vishwanath Prasad Tiwari, noted Hindi poet Dr. Kumar Vishwas, chancellor of the Dr. D Y Patil deemed university Dr. P D Patil, Vidarbha Sahitya Sangh president and organizing committee chairman Pradeep Date and others were present.
Underlining the fact that Wardha was blessed with father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi and Acharya Vinoba Bhave who stayed at this city and both were very good writers in addition to being the freedom fighters, chief minister Shinde said that father of Indian unrest against colonial British Lokmanya Tilak, Mahatma Jotirao Phule, Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, Swatantryaveer Savarkar, Atal Behari Vajpayee, Yashwantrao Chavan, Prabodhankar Thackeray and Balasaheb Thackeray were all good writers. He said that all these leaders through their writings could contribute in social and political field. He said that it amply proves that political leadership comes from literature and writers need to continue with their guidance to political leadership so that larger public good can be achieved.
Marathi Literary Meet is mega-picture of healthy cultural democracy
Stating that Marathi language can create wonders and various literary streams along with literature by the poet Saints of Maharashtra have enriched this language, chief minister Shinde said that through this literary meet we are celebrating a festival of Marathi language and this meet is nothing but a mega-picture of healthy cultural democracy. Expressing pride for the fact that Marathi meet is approaching 100th edition he said that it was an unparallel meet where lakhs of Marathi speaking people gather at one place, not only from the entire state but from the entire World only for their mother tongue. Expressing satisfaction that quality literature is created by very good writers from the village background, he said that the state Government would always encourage Marathi literature and would also continue its work towards conserving colloquial Marathi. He informed that the organizations from outside Maharashtra working for the Marathi language and the Warkari meet have been provided with funding of Rs. 25 lakhs by the state Government.
Expressing the need for taking due note of changes in villages he appealed writers to take note of ambitious project of prosperity corridor which has a positive impact on rural as well as urban life in adjoining areas. He said that reflection of such transformation also needs to be part of literature in addition to translating development oriented as well as inspiring literature from all over the world and from various parts of the country in to Marathi. He assured every kind of help for such efforts.
Literary meet president to be given status of state guest
Chief minister Shinde announced decision of giving status of state Guest to the president of the Marathi literary meet. It was All India Marathi Sahitya Mahamandal, which has made demand in this regard to the sate Government. Chief minister Shinde making this announcement informed that this demand has been accepted by his government.
Demand of light, sound and laser fulfilled
Chief minister has underlined the role played by Wardha in freedom struggle. Legislature Dr. Pankaj Bhoyar had made a demand that light, sound and laser show should be started at Charakha Bhavan on Sewagram road, where big photo-frames of Mahatma Gandhi and Vinoba Bhave have been placed. During his address, the Chief Minister Shinde accepted this demand and announced that for adding to the glory of Wardha city, this demand was being accepted.
