Panaji :- Athletes from Maharashtra won medals in swimming, table tennis, wrestling, sailing, athletics, tennis and taekwondo on the seventh day of the 37th National Games on Wednesday, moving towards a century and a half of medals. Maharashtra has so far maintained its lead in the medal table by winning a total of 142 medals including 56 gold, 43 silver and 43 bronze medals.Senadal (32 gold, 12 silver, 11 bronze) is second and Haryana (24 gold, 18 silver, 23 bronze) is third.
Swastika Ghosh and Shruti Amrite won the women’s doubles table tennis gold medal. Shruti achieved double success by winning the bronze medal in mixed doubles with Jash Modi. Esha Waghmode won the gold medal while Ritika Sriram bagged the silver medal in platform diving. Similarly, in the women’s 4 by 200 meters freestyle relay race, the athletes of Maharashtra won the silver medal.
Maharashtra won a total of three medals, one gold and two silver in swimming. In athletics, Sanjeevani Jadhav bagged her second individual medal by winning silver in the 5,000 meters race. Dattu Bhokanal won the silver medal in sailing. Maharashtra won a total of four medals in this sport, two silver and two bronze. Maharashtra’s Swastika Ghosh and Shruti Amrute won the women’s doubles table tennis gold medal at the National Games on Wednesday. Shruti achieved double success by winning the bronze medal in mixed doubles with Jash Modi.
In the women’s doubles, Maharashtra’s Swastika-Shruti pair defeated West Bengal’s Sagarika Mukherjee and Kaushani Nath 3-0 (11-7, 11-2, 12-10) in the final match.
Shruti and Jash had to settle for a bronze medal after losing in the semifinals in the mixed doubles. West Bengal pair of Kaushani and Ankur Bhattacharya defeated Shruti-Jash pair 3-1. Maharashtra’s Sunil Shetty and Diya Chitale beat West Bengal’s Anirban Ghosh and Mouma Das 3-1 to book their place in the final.
Diya and Swastika have reached the semifinals in women’s singles. Both of them will have a match on Thursday. Diya scored an impressive 4-0 (11-9, 12-10, 11-5, 11-5) win over Tamil Nadu’s Gladlin Sagaya in the quarter-finals. While Swastika defeated Kavya Sri Basak 4-0 (11-5, 17-15, 11-8, 11-6).

Maharashtra athletes won two medals – one gold and one silver – at the 37th National Games on Wednesday, continuing their medal streak in diving. In platform diving, 20-year-old Esha Waghmode won the gold medal while Ritika Sriram bagged the silver medal. Similarly, in the women’s four by 200 meters freestyle relay race, the athletes of Maharashtra ended the day successfully by winning the silver medal. In swimming sports, Maharashtra won a total of three medals, one gold and two silver.
Isha scored 182.75 marks while Ritika got 177.30 marks. Yesterday, Hritika won silver medal in spring board event. She is a player from Solapur and practices under the guidance of Manish Bhavsar. She has been in this sport since the age of nine. He won two bronze medals in the national sports competition held in Gujarat last year. She is working as a player in railway department in Mumbai. Till date she has won many medals at national and international level.
In platform diving, the Maharashtra team consisting of Raghavi Ramanujan, Avantika Chavan, Dhruti Ahirwal and Aditi Hegde completed the race in 9 minutes 3.52 seconds. The Karnataka team completed the distance in a record time of 8 minutes 49.74 seconds and won the gold medal.

Sanjeevani Jadhav wins silver medal in 5000 meters race
Maharashtra’s Sanjeevani Jadhav bagged her second individual medal of the National Games by winning the silver medal in the 5000m race.
Sanjeevani completed the race in 15 minutes 50.33 seconds. Himachal Pradesh’s Seema Kumari covered the distance in 15 minutes 44.05 seconds to win the gold medal, while Gujarat’s Drishti Chaudhary (15 minutes 58.60 seconds) bagged the bronze medal.
Maharashtra’s Poonam Sonu had to settle for fourth place. She took 16 minutes 42.84 seconds to complete the race.
Sanjeevani had earlier won a silver medal in the 10,000 meters race of the event. Poonam won the bronze medal in that race, while Seema Kumari won the title.

Maharashtra’s Dattu Bhokanal won a silver medal in Rowing at the National Games on Wednesday. He also won silver in the men’s coxless four and bronze in the quadruple and double sculls. In rowing, Maharashtra won a total of four medals, two silver and two bronze.
In the men’s individual scull category, international player Dattu Bhokanal was edged out by three seconds for the gold medal. He clocked 6 minutes, 31.9 seconds. In this group, Senadal’s Balraj Panwar won the gold medal (6 minutes, 28.5 seconds) and Punjab’s Karamjit Singh (6 minutes, 28.5 seconds) won the bronze medal.
Maharashtra won silver in men’s coxless four. The Maharashtra team consisting of Akshat, Gurmeet Singh, Vipul Ghurde and Jasmail Singh clocked 5 minutes, 52.1 seconds. Senadal’s team of Satnam Singh, Parminder Singh, Jakar Khan, Sukhmeet Singh clocked 5 minutes, 29.1 seconds while winning the gold medal. In the men’s double scull category, the pair of Mitesh Gill and Ajay Tyagi clocked a time of 6 minutes, 29.0 seconds to bag the bronze medal. *Jugraj Singh’s hat-trick gives Maharashtra a stunning win over Delhi*
Jugraj Singh’s hat-trick led Maharashtra men’s hockey team to a resounding 4-2 win over Delhi. Maharashtra, included in Group B, registered its second win in the 37th national sports Games.
Ajinkya Jadhav opened Maharashtra’s account by scoring a field goal in the sixth minute of the ongoing hockey league match at the Peddem Sports Complex in Mapasa. So Maharashtra had a 1-0 lead in the first session. In the 21st minute of the second session, Govind Bisht scored a field goal to equalize 1-1. But just five minutes later, Jugraj scored (in the 26th minute) through a penalty corner. Therefore, Maharashtra had a 2-1 lead at the interval.
In the 37th minute of the third session, Jugraj scored the second goal with the help of a penalty corner to increase Maharashtra’s lead to 3-1. In the next minute, Delhi’s Dheeraj Vats reduced the gap to 3-2 by scoring through a penalty corner. Then in the fourth session, Jugraj scored his third individual goal through a penalty corner in the 57 minute.
The Maharashtra men’s hockey team, led by international hockey player Yuvraj Valmiki, registered a winning opening in the national tournament by defeating Odisha 2-1 on Monday.

The Maharashtra women’s tennis team had to settle for a silver medal in the National Games. Losing both singles matches, Maharashtra lost 0-2 to Gujarat in the final.
Gujarat’s Vaidehi Chaudhary defeated Maharashtra’s Vaishnavi Adkar 6-3, 6-0 in the first singles match of the women’s team group of the ongoing Goa Sports Authority Stadium. Then in the second singles match, Gujarat’s Ankita Raina defeated Maharashtra’s Rutuja Bhosle 6-4, 6-4.

Maharashtra Women’s Poomse Team won Bronze Medal in Taekwondo National Games.
The Maharashtra women’s team comprising of Mrunali Harnekar, Vasundhara Chhede and Sanika Jagtap secured the third position with a score of 6.38. Manipur (6.40 points) also got the bronze medal. Arunachal Pradesh bagged the gold medal with 6.51 points and Assam bagged the silver medal with 6.43 points.

Maharashtra men’s archery team makes it to the finals in the compound event at the National Games Medal has been decided. Similarly, the women’s team will have a chance to win a bronze medal. Maharashtra men’s team defeated Uttar Pradesh team by a margin of 236-224 in the ongoing compound archery competition at Goa College of Engineering, Patangan, Ponda.
