● Union Minister Puri Inaugurates Nagpur Metro Stall at UMI
NAGPUR :- The 15th edition of Urban Mobility India (UMI) conference was inaugurated at Kochi, Kerala today. The conference was inaugurated by Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri, while Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who was Chief Guest at the event, was present online.
The Maha Metro Stall was also inaugurated today at the venue of the national conference. The Union Minister Puri inaugurated the Nagpur Metro Stall. Maha Metro has depicted its various achievements from Nagpur and Pune at the venue, including those related to Property Development (PD), Financial Sustainability, rainwater harvesting.
Other aspects like Make in India Aluminium Body coaches, Public Outreach activities like Metro Samwaad, the MetroNeo Project, various awards bagged by Maha Metro all these years have also been showcased there. The stall has been getting good response and people have been visiting the stall.
The annual UMI Conference and Expo is a flagship event held under the aegis of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India. The primary objective of the conference is to disseminate information to the cities, whose officials attend the conference, and to help them keep up-to-date with best urban transport practices.
Inaugurating the three-day conference, Union Minister Puri spoke about the various aspects of transport and Metro Rail. The `Make in India’ concept has been very well received and embraced by the transport sector, the minister said and added that it’s a bodes well for the development of the country.
Speaking on the occasion, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan welcomed delegates from across the country and hope that the national meet will go a long way in addressing the transport-related issues of the country. The Hon Chief Minister addressed the gathering through video link.
The 3-day meet is attended by officers from across the Metro projects across the country. It would deliberate on the various aspects related to Metro Rail in [particular and transport sector in general.
