– Categorisation of schools in the state according to quality is important – Governor Ramesh Bais
-The state will adopt an education system that prepares students for global competition – Chief Minister Eknath Shinde
Mumbai :- Governor Ramesh Bais said that the purpose of education should not be limited to just teaching children but should focus on developing them into good individuals. The governor emphasised the importance of categorising schools based on quality. He appreciated the government’s priority on education.
The inauguration of the ‘Chief Minister My School, Beautiful School’ (Mazi Shala; Sunder Shala) campaign was done today by Governor Ramesh Bais and Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.
At the launch event of the ‘Chief Minister My School, Beautiful School’ campaign held at Raj Bhavan, key attendees included School Education Minister Deepak Kesarkar, Rural Development Minister Girish Mahajan, and Skill Development Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha.
Along with this campaign, the inauguration of initiatives like the Adopt a School Scheme, Maharashtra Reading Festival (Maha Vachan Utsav), Maharashtra’s Reading Movement (Vachan Chalwal), My School My Garden, and Cleanliness Monitor Phase – 2, was done by dignitaries.
Governor Bais said education should be about ‘creating human beings’ as Swami Vivekananda expected. If a poor child cannot access education, education should reach them. Today’s children may not read books, but they are gaining knowledge and information through smartphones, the internet, social media, etc. Therefore, it’s important to engage students with audiobooks, video books, and e-books instead of just books. Teachers and parents play a crucial role in ensuring children access safe and good content on the internet. Revitalising all libraries with internet and computer facilities is essential. The Library Adoption Scheme should also be initiated, and libraries must transform, as stated by the Governor. Organising expert sessions on protecting oneself from cyber crimes is also necessary. He also applauded the efforts of UNICEF, ‘Read India’, and ‘Pratham Book’ in supporting this education mission.
Every village must have a model school For students to compete globally, schools in Maharashtra will be of excellent quality, as there’s no alternative to quality in competition, said Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde stated that many changes have been made in the School Education Department. Students studying in government schools should not lag behind private schools. Today, the inauguration of innovative plans of the education department was done. Dr. B.R. Ambedkar also prioritised education with the message ‘Learn, Organize, and Struggle’. Today’s program is a true tribute to Dr. Ambedkar. The campaign ‘Chief Minister My School, Beautiful School’ increases my responsibility, and I will personally pay attention to this work.
