Mumbai :-Maharashtra Governor Ramesh Bais presided over the West Bengal State Formation Day at Maharashtra Raj Bhavan Mumbai on Tue (20 June).
The Governor applauded the contribution of the Bengalis in the socio economic and cultural development of Mumbai and Maharashtra.
The State Formation Day of West Bengal was celebrated for the first time in Maharashtra Raj Bhavan as part of the ‘Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat’ initiative of Government of India.
A cultural programme comprising Bengali songs, dance and Ravindra Sangeet was presented with the collaboration of Srijon Foundation.
The Governor felicitated the President of Ramakrishna Math and Mission Swami Satyadevananda Maharaj, Tabla Maestro Pt. Nayan Ghosh, Vice President of Taj Hotels Somnath Mukherjee, COO of Hinduja Hospital Joy Chakraborty, Director, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya Sabyasachi Mukherjee, Professor of Surgery Dr Gautam Sen, Director, Singapore International School Sharonee Mullick and Founder of Srijon Foundation Kamalini Guha Thakurta on the occasion.
Members of the Mumbai Bengali community were present.
