SUNIL SHETTY STATEMENT SPARK OFF NATIONWIDE DEBATE ON BOLLYWOOD

Mumbai :- During a recent meeting of the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath with some of the prominent people of Bollywood, actor Sunil Shetty quite surprisingly made a statement regarding Bollywood Boycott which has generated a controversy over the current working of Bollywood. BC Bhartia, National President &  Praveen Khandelwal, Secretary General of the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) while reacting on the said statement called for a nationwide debate on the present dismal and controversial performance and activities of the Bollywood because cinema is not only a mode of business or service but in reality is the mirror of the society and the Country.

Bhartia and Khandelwal said that there is no doubt that Bollywood has given excellent films from time to time and has also given unmatched talents to the nation, but it is also true that in the last few years bollywood has left no stone unturned in the poor portrayal of our nation’s rich culture. They stressed that the films which are being made now a days and especially what is being shown on the OTT platforms is not the picture of real India.Front liners of Bollywood including Shetty must think as to why there is a rise in a situation of Bollywood Boycott in the country and who is responsible for this.

Bhartia and Khandelwal said that Shetty & others in Bollywood should introspect and think before making any such statement. They should think why the society has got such a perception about Bollywood. What was Bollywood earlier and what has it become now. Whose and what kind of hidden agenda are these people taking forward in the society and where is it taking our society and the nation.

Both the leaders said that the society is greatly influenced by the works of art, artists, plays, TV serials, stories of pictures, different characters played by the artists etc. Today’s youth wants to imitate these artists considering them as ideals. When our hero declares himself successful by doing his wrong deeds, for example the kind of dialogues they speak, the way mutual relationships are being depicted and the kind of nudity which is being served openly and the kind of luxury they take up, is it what a society is worth.

Bhartia and Khandelwal said that society has its own rituals, culture, civilization and tradition and Society does not want to forget them quickly. The society is also cautious it feels that any impractical activity has become excessive which is harmful for its existence, then rebel starts. When the collectively people of the country talk of boycotting Bollywood, it is not because of one film or one character. This is the final drop in the pot, from which the pot is about to explode. For the last 30 to 40 years, gradually the manner in which our culture is being attacked, there has been a revolt of discontent in the society. The society wants to preserve the culture, civilization, tradition of our country, so it is necessary to remove such people and their work from the society so that our children are preserved from being influenced by them.

They added that our society’s message is very clear to Bollywood and it is a warning. Now at least they should check themselves, otherwise they will not be tolerated.

We fully support the successful Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi  who has announced to make a film city in Uttar Pradesh along with Bollywood. Definitely, if a film city is built in Uttar Pradesh, then the films made there will be cultured. The tradition, civilization and culture of the country will be taken forward. That’s why Uttar Pradesh’s film city should be built as soon as possible because it will open huge opportunities of Trade & commerce in the state- said the trade leaders.
