Nagpur :- One of the major festivals of India – Chhath Puja is being observed on 31st October. Devotees worship Sun while celebrating this festival. On this day, the followers perform mass pooja at water bodies. The number of such followers is large in Nagpur city. In order to facilitate journey of these followers, Maha Metro has decided to provide special services on 31st October this year.
Accordingly, special Metro services would operate on Aqua Line from 4 am on that day. The services would start from Sitabuldi Interchange and Lokmanya Nagar Metro Station at 15-minute interval from 4 am onwards. For the convenience of worshippers, arrangements will be made to help them purchase return journey tickets at the two metro stations.
Recently, a delegation comprising office bearers of Uttar Bharatiya Sabha called on Maha Metro MD Dr Brijesh Dixit, requesting special Metro services, to enable worshippers to travel to the Puja site for the festival, from 4 am on 31st October 2022. Dr. Dixit accepted their request and asked concerned Nagpur Metro officials to act accordingly.
Accordingly plans have been drawn and Metro services would be available that day. Though the trains would play after every 15 minutes, frequency could be increased if needed. The devotees have been requested to note that incense sticks and lamps can’t be lit inside the metro train for safety reasons.
Maha Metro is committed to provide safe travel services to citizens. It may be recalled that passenger services were extended till 11 pm to accommodate passengers during Dussehra and Dhamma Chakra Pravartan Din on October 5, 2022. Similarly, metro services were extended till 3 am after the T20 match between India and Australia on 23rd September 2022.
During Chhath Puja, thousands of devotees along with families offer worship at Ambazari Lake. The availability of metro service from 4 am on 31st October will facilitate the devotees to reach the location.
