“SAVE TIGER TO SAVE HUMANITY”- CCF NAGPUR  SHRILAXMI

– International Tiger Day- 29th July

Nagpur :-On account of International Tiger Day celebrated on 29th July, Rotary club of Nagpur ELITE in association with Asiatic Big Cat Society, organized a Tiger for Humanity- Awareness Drive. The drive consisted of series of events which saw participation from not only children of 4 Interact Schools affiliated to Rotary International but equal participation from the citizens of the Tiger Capital.

The rally was flagged off from Van Bhavan at Zero Mile to Tiger Capital Mural at Akashwani square. As the Rotarians, children, teachers and active citizens walked throughout the drive they showcased the artistic placards and expressed the unique slogans foir saving the tigers to citizens, which were made by the students in a tiger awareness competition held a day prior.

Shrilaxmi A, IFS, Chief Conservator of Forest (CCF), Nagpur Territorial was the Chief guest along with Guest of Honor- Shri Bharat Hada, Dy Conservator of Forest, Nagpur who jointly conferred the prizes to students who won the face painting, slogan and art competitions.

Shrilaxmi, in her address interacted with the children and the general public present in numbers, she highlighted the importance of saving tiger to save the entire ecological chain and the overall humanity. Shrilaxmi informed that India consists more than 13 Bio Diversities and expressed her concern about how the booming human population has increased the pressure on the nature to support the basic needs like oxygen, food security, ecological balance, she also stressed upon how the forest department manages the conservation of tiger and parallely avoid any man animal conflict in true sense. She appreciated Rotary ELITE’s initiatives and contribution towards Environment and Tiger Conservation. Together all stakeholders must push efforts to conserve and save our mother nature to save humanity.

Bharat Hada, IFS,Dy CCF interacted with students in a question and answer format. He apprised them of the statistics of Tigers like the total population, conservation techniques and the efforts taken by the Nagpur Division Forest officers to protect and conserve the highest number of tigers in India.

Ajay Patil, presided over the awareness drive who urged the students and citizens to actively participate in the conservation activities and camps undertaken by the vote of thanks was given by RCN ELITE President Rtn. Mamta Jaiswal. The convenor and project Director Shilpali Bhalerao was the MOC.

Prominently present were IPP Shubhankar Patil, Vice President  Sanjay Wankhede, Secretary  Saloni Bagwani, Treasurer Sapna Nair, Sameer Pandit, Students and Teachers of Aspire International School, Essence International School, School of Scholars-SOS, St John School- Ramkumari maam was the co-ordinator for the event.
