A total four medals earned
Mapasa :- Maharashtra’s Dattu Bhokanal won a silver medal in Rowing at the National Games on Wednesday. Maharashtra also won silver in the men’s coxless four and bronze in the quadruple and double sculls. In rowing, Maharashtra won a total of four medals, two silver and two bronze.
In the men’s individual scull category, international player Dattu Bhokanal was edged out by three seconds for the gold medal. He clocked 6 minutes, 31.9 seconds. In this group, Senadal’s Balraj Panwar won the gold medal (6 minutes, 28.5 seconds) and Punjab’s Karamjit Singh (6 minutes, 28.5 seconds) won the bronze medal.
Maharashtra won silver in men’s coxless four. The Maharashtra team consisting of Akshat, Gurmeet Singh, Vipul Ghurde and Jasmail Singh clocked 5 minutes, 52.1 seconds. Senadal (5 minutes, 47.5 seconds) won the gold medal. His team consisted of Jaswinder Singh, Bhim Singh, Puneet Kumar and Ashish. Jharkhand’s team consisting of Lakhvir Singh, Jaspreet Singh, Harpal Singh and Parvinder Singh bagged the bronze medal.In the men’s quadruple group, the quartet of Tejas Shinde, Omkar Mhaske, Mitesh Gill, Ajay Tyagi finished third with a time of 5 minutes, 34.7 seconds. Senadal’s team of Satnam Singh, Parminder Singh, Jakar Khan, Sukhmeet Singh clocked 5 minutes, 29.1 seconds while winning the gold medal. While the team from Delhi (5 minutes, 31.1 seconds) won the gold medal. This team consisted of Sunil Atri, Ujjwal Kumar Singh, Manish, Rohit.
In the men’s double scull category, the pair of Mitesh Gill and Ajay Tyagi clocked a time of 6 minutes, 29.0 seconds to bag the bronze medal. Senadal’s Satnam Singh and Parminder Singh (6 minutes, 13.1 seconds) bagged the gold medal and Delhi’s Manjit Kumar and Ravi (6 minutes, 21.3 seconds) bagged the bronze medal.
Reaction
Athletes from Maharashtra participated in seven events in Rowing. Four of these medals were won. This is certainly commendable when compared to the performance of the previous National Games.
