Nagpur – The first of its kind On-site First aid “Training the Trainers” Workshop for 50 youth volunteers
from Ishwar Deshmukh College of Physical Education, Sitabai Nirgundkar College of Nursing and
Kumbhalkar Social Work College was organized on 20th November 2021 in Orange City Hospital
& Research Institute as part of their yearlong silver jubilee anniversary commemoration. This
program was backed by National Road Safety Council- Union Ministry of Road Transport &
Highways under stewardship of Shri.Raju Wagh, President, Yuva Daud Manch & Member,
National Road Safety Council.
Timely care and safe transport of accident victims reduces morbidity and mortality of victims.
The concept of this workshop was that Volunteers who will become Trainers in this workshop
will subsequently impart similar road side training amongst first responders of any road
accident who are based in roadsides like T-shop / fruit & vegetable vendors, cobblers, Auto
rickshaw drivers etc. to propagate this concept in society like a chain reaction. Volunteers were
trained on emergency first aid, safe-pickup and safe transport. Hands training on mannequin
was also provided. On behalf his organization, Shri.Raju Wagh awarded certificates to all
successful participants.
Dr. Neeta Deshpande and Dr. Nirbhay Karandikar were faculty members for this innovative
program. Dr. Noorul Ameen assisted by Shri.Prashant Tichkule, Shri.Ganesh Iyer, Shri.Prakash
Shende and Shri.Madhukar Chanore under guidance of Dr. Anup Marar-OCHRI Director
coordinated this event. Dr. Anup Marar rendered welcome speech while Shri.Raju Wagh
introduced the concept. Dr. Vidya Nair- RNHPL Vice Chairman introduced the faculty members
as Dr. Noorul Ameen proposed vote of thanks. Dr. Bhimrao Meshram- KMSW College Vice
Principal and Shri.U.S. Bobade were prominently present.
Thanking Team OCHRI, Shri.Raju Wagh offered large scale escalation of such events in coming
future with technical support of OCHRI and backed by National Safety Council as advocated by
Shri.Nitin Gadkari- Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways who is passionate about
accident prevention and reducing accident mortalities. OCHRI which proficiently ran
Maharashtra’s 1st Emergency medical services in collaboration with Nagpur City Police for 6
years till Government’s 108 services took over was appropriate and qualified training partner
for such an exercise. It is added that National Road Safety Council is in total sync with the
OCHRI’s philosophy of Saving lives, Saving families.
