Nagpur :-The Inauguration Ceremony of Zonal Training Conference on CPI(Urbun/Rural) was organized by the Zonal Office (WZ), National Sample Survey Office (Field Operations Division) under the Ministry of Statistics & Program Implementation, Government of India on 01/08/2023 at Conference Hall, DPC, CGO Complex, Seminary Hills, Nagpur. Rajendra C. Gautam, Dy. Director General and Head of Western Zone, NSSO (FOD), Nagpur inaugurated the conference. The Purpose of this training programme was to develop skills of 40 field functionaries and discuss various technical aspects of the base year revision of CPI through an all-India full-fledged Market Survey.
Nirnay Pratap Singh, Deputy Director, NSSO(FOD), ZO, Nagpur welcomed all the dignitaries and participants on this occasion. This workshop is a step towards the Ministries endorse towards data quality, timeliness, consistencies and reliable data from the open markets.
Deepti Srivastava, Deputy Director General, National Statistical Office (Price Statistics Division), Delhi. In her address, said that this updation of shops, items, goods and Services are being done across the states for revision of CPI series. She highlighted the importance and various utilities of CPI by the key stakeholders viz, Reserve Bank, Central/State Govt., Policy/Plan Makers etc.
Rajendra C. Gautam, Deputy Director General, NSSO(FOD), Zonal Office, Nagpur, in his inaugural speech said that this the price of selected goods will be collected during January 2024 to December 2024 and the based on this, frame will be finalised for further monthly prices will be collected for inflation measuring CPI. He said that current CPI base year is very old which is 2012, so this training program is being conducted to revise the base period to be more accurate reflection of Indian economy towards consumption pattern of goods and Services by the people.
Jose Kurian, Director, NSO(PSD), Rohit Nagar, Dy. Director, NSO(PSD) and Balram, Dy. Director, NSSO(FOD), Hqrs, Delhi participated in this training programme as resource persons. The Anchor of ceremony was done Smt. Annie Ealias, Sr. Statistical Officer, NSSO(FOD), ZO, Nagpur. The programme concluded with vote of thanks by Deepak Nagdeve, sr. Statistical Officer, NSSO(FOD), ZO, Nagpur.
