As written in my previous blog, there are few posts of DCP’s and one post of Additional CP getting vacant, it will be filled after Ganapati Bappa leaves us on the 17th. There is tremendous competition now to who will be occupying which zone. Already 3 names that I made here in my blog are Dr. Sudhakar Pathare who is DCP Thane (Zone 4), S B Gunjal DCP Thane (Zone 3) and Vivek Pansare DCP Navi Mumbai (Zone 1). Please understand, any posting in Mumbai MMR posting is considered as cream posting, be it in IAS or IPS. People do whatever it has to be done to be around the power center. Here in Mumbai the ‘malai’ (cream) is tastier and in bigger quantities, numbers that will go over our heads for people like me and you. Even if you are in Navi Mumbai or Thane, Mumbai is Mumbai. So everyone in their lifetime once wants this malai, as this period these officers consider a ‘golden period’. Now I know an officer who has stayed here as IPS for more than 8 years just because of his wife, who is as strict as a head-mistress of any school and used to being a westernized Mumbaikar now. But this poor IPS, a very genuine officer, even if wants to go outside Mumbai and experience other cities, the wife uses her connections and somehow manages his posting for him!
Then I know another lady IPS officer in Mumbai who is considered absolutely ‘dangerous’ when it comes to postings if not given as per her choice. Her husband is IPS too.This lady officer is side posted now. For years, she wanted a Zone (meaning she wants to be an Addl CP of any Zone in Mumbai) so badly that she has made the life of her superiors miserable, I am told. Husband is again a very diligent and not at all interfering officer and quietly doing his duty. But this lady officer makes the lives of other Addl CP miserable too. She is known for her bossing nature all around and getting things her way. But unfortunately, none of the superiors even care to hear her. Feel bad for her.
Coming back to the 3 ‘mahashay’ of Thane and Navi Mumbai mentioned above, boss, tell me who wouldn’t want Mumbai? Like others, even these 3 are trying through their own sources. But their source happens to be the same, who is extremely powerful in Thane. He is a politician, I am told! Now the Home Ministry is with DCM Devendra Fadnavis. Let not any politician from Thane decide Home postings except the DGP, Thane Commissioner and Home Minister himself.
Dr Sudhakar Pathare, eventually a month ago he was transferred as SP Satara. But there some newbie SP Satara by the name Sameer Sheikh who was posted there, requested CM Eknath Shinde to not transfer him. Yes, it happens only in Maharashtra wherein if you are a SP of the same district where the CM hails from, you can make such requests! Stay order was given to this Pathare and eventually Pathare caught hold of this Thane politician and now he is dreaming of becoming DCP of Mumbai. But isn’t Pathare due for promotion in the next 3 to 4 months? Why doesn’t Deva Bhau make him sit outside and after promotion bring him to Mumbai and give him a positing of his choice?
Vivek Pansare who is in Navi Mumbai is a smart person. He is not lobbying for anything small in Mumbai. He wants to join the Social Service Branch of Mumbai Police. Do you know what the role of this post is? Apart from the ones mentioned on the website, raids on hotels and pubs, (sorry did I write ‘most profitable per night dhanda’ anywhere) is one duty which keeps Mumbai city nightlife and illegal activity in check. Go Mr. Pansare, I am with you !! I don’t know why but someone from Navi Mumbai told me, Pansare loves the number ’50’ . God knows alone why ?
S B Gunjal is tired of working in Thane and the pressure everyday. He wants to become Mumbai DCP but where there is aamdani atthani and no Kharcha…meaning he wants to survive on his salary and not be posted in a place like Mumbai Zone 9 where his expense will be more than the salary he gets due to various lifestyle attractions this post has. He is very adamant that he wants either Zone 6, 7 or 12 wherein less ‘attention’ is there.
Then in Thane a relatively junior officer but a very influential officer who is trying to manage Pankaj Shirsat’s traffic post, I am told Shivraj Patil using his AA connections, is trying for ACB thane but there is a speculation as to who will take charge of Kalyan. The mention of Raigad suggests a pattern where people who have handled responsibilities there, are moved to Kalyan indicating a stepping stone in the hierarchy. Gunjal was also Raigad Additional SP and now most probably Jhende to get DCP Kalyan zone…
Now Deva Bhau, out of the 3 I have written about I think except Pathare, none of the other 2 are direct IPS. I don’t have issues with such people, but aren’t DCP posts meant for decorated IPS officers? This Thane politician since past is always trying and hell bent on bringing “Daakus” to Mumbai on various posts, be it IAS or IPS. Please note the term ‘Daaku’ is not for the above 3… But Deva Bhau please save Mumbai from Daaku, as this is the last we need it our ‘classy’ city !!
