Mumbai :- Maharashtra Governor C P Radhakrishnan today commended the IMC Chamber of Commerce for creating the Miyawaki styled forest at Maharashtra Raj Bhavan Mumbai. The Governor appealed to the Chamber to create similar forests in State Universities and involve the students in the environment protection activities.
The Governor was speaking to the office bearers and past Presidents of the IMC Chamber of Commerce and Industry after inaugurating the IMC Miyawaki Forest at Raj Bhavan, Mumbai on Fri (28 Mar).
The Governor released an information book on the Miyawaki Forest project at Raj Bhavan and unveiled a plaque on the occasion.
The Governor spoke to the captains of industry and also patted the gardners associated with the plantation and conservation work of the Miyawaki Forest.
The Miyawaki Forest at Raj Bhavan was undertaken under the IMC Centenary Trust and implemented by Keshav Srushti.
Under the project, 2000 saplings of 48 varieties have been planted on the western sea front of Raj Bhavan on a plot measuring 6000 sq ft.
Adulsa, Ananta, Anjeer, Awala, Ber, Chandan, Dalchini, Kadhipatta, Kaju, Kharvand etc have been planted at the Miyawaki forest at Raj Bhavan.
