HERO MOTOCORP PARTNERS WITH NAGPUR POLICE ON INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY

HANDS OVER 60 HERO SCOOTERS&500 HELMETS TO POLICE COMMISSIONERATE&FIRE DEPARTMENT TO PROMOTE ROAD SAFETY & WOMEN EMPOWERMENT

In keeping with its unwavering commitment to Diversity & inclusion (D&I) and Safety, Hero MotoCorp, the world’s largest manufacturer of motorcycles and scooters, today handed over 60 Hero scooters and 500 helmets to the Nagpur Police Commissionerate(NMC) and the Fire Department to commemorate International Women’s Day.

These Hero scooters would enablepolice officers and fire department officers to provide rapid services during emergency situations, thereby ensuring better security to the citizens of Nagpur – particularly women.

The scooters were handed over to the Police Commissionerate and the Fire Department by Mr. VikramKasbekar, Executive Director, HeroMotoCorp,in the presence ofHon’ble Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, ShriNitinGadkari.

ShriAmitesh Kumar, Honorable Commissioner of Nagpur and ShriJaiprakash Gupta, Member, Khadi and Village Industry Commission were also among the notable dignitaries who attended the event.

ShriNitinGadkari, Hon’ble Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, said, “We appreciate Hero MotoCorp for taking the initiative and partnering with the Nagpur Police and Fire Department on the occasion of International Women’s Day. This is an excellent example of a Corporate and local authorities collaborating together to ensure the safety of citizens, particularly women.”

Handing over the scooters,Mr. VikramKasbekar, Executive Director, Hero MotoCorp, said,“As a responsible corporate, Hero MotoCorp has always been committed to creating mass public awareness about Road Safety and Women Empowerment. As an ongoing initiative, weare partnering with several state police departments, empowering police officers with effective mobility options. Our association with the Nagpur Police and Fire departments is reaffirmation of our commitment to creating a safe and secure city.”

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Prakash Jain, Proprieter, Hero Aditya agency in Nagpur, said “In collaboration with Hero MotoCorp, we will continue to promote road safety and women empowerment in the city and its surrounding areas. We highly value our partnership with the local administration and police department and we will keep strengthening this association through various CSR initiatives.”

Hero CSR is always concerned with Women Empowerment and accordingly 6 women achieverswere selected from various fields offering their services to the society:

  • PrajaktaLavangareVerma, First Woman Divisional Commissioner of Nagpur Division;
  • AswatiDorje, Jt. Commissioner of Police;
  • DCP Vinita Sahu;
  • Sharda Naidu, Principal of IDCPE College from the field of Education
  • SaritaKaushik, editor, and author from the field of Media; and
  • SnehalShinde from the field of women entrepreneurship.

The new Hero scooters are equipped with sirens, loudspeaker and other essential police accessories, to empower officers in the city to adequately perform their patrolling duties.
