Nagpur :-Despite forming a committee of 9 expert officers under the chairmanship of the Additional Commissioner from 2021, no action has been taken against any bogus medical business in these two years – NCP Urban Cell’s demand for the dismissal of the committee.
In the city of Nagpur, the lives of innocent citizens are being played with by those who run bogus medical businesses out of greed for money. Medical negligence, increased bills for treatment are also in discussion and businesses are also running in small streets. There are some people with restricted degrees from Assam, West Bengal, Maharashtra who practice medicine as ‘RMP’ obtained by submitting false documents. As common citizens do not have enough knowledge on how to identify bogus doctors, they fall prey to the scams of bogus doctors. Bogus doctors have often given wrong treatment to the patients resulting in permanent disability and death. In such a situation, the committee working on this should work more efficiently with the help of the police system and find out more and more bogus doctors.
According to Section 33 (1) of the Maharashtra Medical Profession Act, 1961, medical practitioners are required to register with four statutory councils namely the Maharashtra Medical Council, the Maharashtra Homoeopathic Council, the Maharashtra Indian Medical Council and the Maharashtra Dental Council. Violators of this provision are punishable with imprisonment of 1 to 3 years and financial penalty. City president shivankar complained that to take action against bogus medical practitioners in the district, From 2021, a committee of 9 expert officers was formed under the chairmanship of the Additional Commissioner, but till now no action has been taken.
NCP Urban cell demands that inactive committee should be dissolved and a new committee should be formed, strict action should be taken against the bogus doctors who are playing with the lives of patients by treating them without official medical license, special teams should be deployed to find them, and a sudden inspection campaign should be carried out . Deputation is given to Medical Health Officer of Municipal Corporation Dr. .Narendra Bahirmwar . On this occasion, City President of NCP Urbancell Shrikant Shivankar, Sanjay Joshi, Eknath Falke, Sandip Khangar , Devidas Chandrayan, Sandeep Ukey, Mehboob Pathan, Sachin Patil were present.
