NAGPUR – In order to commemorate 90th anniversary of Air Force Day, a hollow square parade for all the air warriors, DSC personnel, Non Combatants (Enrolled) and Civilians was held on 08 Oct 22 at Head Quarters Maintenance Command, Nagpur wherein, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief Air Marshal Vibhas Pande administered the pledge to all for serving the nation with honesty, integrity and devotion. The messages received from
the President, Vice-President, Prime Minister, Defence Minister, Chief of the Air Staff were read out. The Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief through his message urged all personnel to keep up the good work and ensure operational preparedness at all times. He brought out that with the recent infusion of high tech weapon platforms, the technlogistic challenges in sustaining operational capabilities have increased manifold. However, with our indigenization efforts and innovative solutions we have been able to take effective steps to ensure 100% serviceability of all our assets. He reiterated that collective efforts put in by all the personnel will ensure that we “Touch the Sky with Glory.”
During the event, Commendations by the Chief of the Air Staff and Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief were awarded to meritorious personnel. Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief also laid a wreath at the ‘Shaurya Samarak’, a Memorial, in recognition of the soldiers for their services to the nation.
The Air Force Day celebrations commenced with a Swachhta Abhiyan on 27 Sep 22; a blood donation camp on 30 Sep 22; high tea for all the staff including DSC personnel,Non Combatants (Enrolled), MES personnel and Civilians on 03 Oct 22; ‘SNCOs at Home’ at Officers’ Mess on 06 Oct 22; Bara khana/ luncheon at the Airmen Mess and a social at the SNCO’s Mess on 07 Oct 22. The Air Officer Commanding-in- Chief interacted with all personnel employed at Vayusena Nagar and appreciated their contributions to the service and the nation. The Air Force Day celebrations culminated with a dinner hoisted for the serving and retired officers and other civil dignitaries at the Officers’ Mess on 08 Oct 22.
