Nagpur :-In order to empower the next generation of leaders in real world issues aligned with the 2030 SDGs as well as develop a better understanding of the inner working of the United Nations and build skills in diplomacy, consensus and decision making Delhi Public School, MIHAN organized the Model United Nations, MIMUN 3.0, after hosting two successful editions of it earlier. The opening ceremony was held on 2nd December ’23 in its beautiful sprawling school premises. The Chief Guest, Dr. Shilpa Jain, Associate Professor of Law at Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur graced the occasion with her benign presence. On behalf of the school, Principal Nidhi Yadav welcomed the Chief Guest, dignitaries and the delegates who were present on this special occasion.
The Guest of Honour Tulika Kedia President and Pro Vice Chairperson of DPS MIHAN and Kamptee Road, Nagpur in her message to the delegates of the conference extended her best wishes and emphasized that by fostering an environment of collaboration and understanding they can ensure inclusivity and equity that the SDGs goals require for the sustainable development of all. Director Savita Jaiswal also joined the ceremony online and extended blessings to the delegates for a stimulating conference.
The Chief Guest, Dr. Shilpa Jain in her address motivated the delegates to focus on the theme of the event ‘Endeavour for transformation, Endeavour of 2030 SDGs’ to create a better society with patience and empathy. She highlighted that with diplomacy as an art and involving oneself in a healthy debate on contemporary issues, one can work for the global good.
A total of 20 schools from all over India are participating in MIMUN 3.0, with around 200 delegates representing in the two days’ conference and they will debate and deliberate on the agendas of the committees of UN such as UNHRC, UNDP, UNCSW, AIPPM, DISEC, WHO and a fictitious committee F1 and SPIDER – VERSE.. MIMUN 3.0 is focused to nurture the skills of diplomacy and motivate young minds to ponder over international issues roleplaying as the delegates of the allotted country. The Secretariat under the leadership of Secretary General Arnav Galphate conducted the whole event.
It is a two day event which will conclude on 3rd December, 2023.
