Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari presented the Sri Shanmukhananda Bharat Ratna Dr M S Subbulakshmi Sangeetha Pracharya Award to founder of Divyadhwani Music School Chennai Seetha Narayanan in Mumbai on Saturday (11th Dec). The Governor also presented the Sri Shanmukhananda Dr M S Subbulakshmi Fellowship in Music to 50 young and promising artists from across the country on this occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said Indian music has some heavenly element about it. He said Indian music is not just recreation, but it is a way to realization.
The Governor called upon artists to reach for perfection through hard work and dedication and live upto the name of Dr M S Subbulakshmi in whose honour the award fellowships are given.
The award and fellowships have been instituted by the Sri Shanmukhananda Fine Arts and Sangeetha Sabha. President of the Shanmukhananda Fine Arts and Sangeetha Sabha Dr V Shankar, Vice President P Sethuraman, Secretary Dr V Rangaraj and artists and music lovers were present.
