Operation Jeevan Raksha: RPF Saves Passenger’s Life at Chandrapur Station

Nagpur :-In a remarkable act of vigilance and quick thinking, Head Constable (HC) Uma Shankar Vashistha of the Railway Protection Force (RPF), Chandrapur Station, saved the life of a passenger at risk of falling between the platform and a moving train.

At around 18:12 hours, Train No. 22619 was departing from Platform No. 1 when HC Uma Shankar Vashistha observed a passenger attempting to board the moving sleeper coach. Unfortunately, the passenger lost his balance and fell onto the platform, dangerously close to the gap between the platform and the train.

Without hesitation, HC Vashistha reacted swiftly, grabbing the passenger and pulling him back to safety, preventing him from falling into the path of the moving train. The quick and timely action saved the passenger’s life.

Upon seeing the situation unfold, Sub-Inspector (SI) Nitin Aswarlal, who was also present, quickly coordinated with the on-duty guard, Ramesh Singh, from HQ/NGP. The guard immediately initiated a pressure drop, halting the train. Once the train came to a stop, the passenger was safely assisted back into the train, and Train No. 22619 resumed its journey at 18:14 hours.

Due to time constraints, the passenger was unable to provide his travel details, but he expressed his heartfelt gratitude to HC Uma Shankar Vashistha for his courageous and life-saving intervention.

This exemplary display of alertness and dedication to duty highlights the commitment of RPF personnel in ensuring the safety and security of railway passengers. The incident serves as a reminder of the invaluable role played by the RPF in safeguarding the lives of travelers.
