– GS Com Venu P Nair Underscores Unifying Power of Sports Emphasising NRMU’s guiding principle of “Sarva Dharma Sambhav”
Nagpur :- The National Railway Mazdoor Union (NRMU) continues its 10-year old legacy of organising the “Yuva Sports Mahotsav” that started in 2014 under the futuristic vision of Com. Venu P Nair, General Secretary of NRMU (CR/KR), despite of the limited resources and time constraints, the 3-day sports event have begun from 14th to 16th December 2024 at Central Railway Sports Complex, Parel just after 48 hours of a strenuous period of campaigning for Union Recognition Elections, three days of polling and declaration of stunning victory of the union on 12.12.2024. This program has been organised brilliantly this year also with the meticulous planning of the General Secretary assisted by an execution team led by Com. Vinay Sawant (AGS). The event aims to foster camaraderie, sportsmanship, and a spirit of inclusivity among the young railway workers of Central Railway.
Spanning three action-packed days, the Youth Sports Mahotsav 2024 features a vibrant lineup of events, including Men’s Cricket Tournament, Women’s Cricket Matches, Volleyball Matches, Tug of War, among others. Teams representing various branches, workshops, and depots of the Central Railway are participating enthusiastically, showcasing their talent and team spirit. The festival will conclude on 16th December with a grand prize distribution ceremony, where the winners of various events will be felicitated.
The festival was inaugurated on 14th December by Com. Venu P. Nair, General Secretary, NRMU (CR/KR). In his inaugural address, he underscored the unifying power of sports in bringing together individuals from diverse backgrounds and identities. He also reiterated NRMU’s guiding principle of “Sarva Dharma Sambhav” (equal respect for all religions), which serves as the philosophical backbone of the festival.
Several NRMU (CR&KR) office bearers graced the inauguration ceremony, including Com. Kamakshi (President), Com. Vivek Nair (AGS), Com.Swati Mhatre (AGS), Com. Ashok Trivedi (HQ Secretary), Com. Pushkar Patil (Presiden, Mumbai Division), Com. Harsha Shelke (Zonal Youth Committee) along with other prominent leaders, who lent their support and encouragement to the participants.
NRMU continues to uphold its commitment to fostering unity and holistic development among railway workers through initiatives like the Youth Festival, which serves as a platform for collaboration, engagement, and the celebration of diversity.
