Mumbai :-The Governor of Maharashtra and Chancellor of state Universities Ramesh Bais has appointed Dr Manohar Ganpat Chaskar as the new Vice Chancellor of the Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University (SRTMU) Nanded.
Dr Manohar Chaskar is presently serving as the Dean (Incharge) Faculty of Science and Technology at Savitribai Phule Pune University and Principal of Prof. Ramkrishna More College, Pune.
The appointment has been made for a term of five years from the date he assumes the charge of the office of vice chancellor or till he attains the age of sixty five, whichever is earlier.
Dr Manohar Chaskar (DoB 30 Oct. 1966 ) obtained his M.Sc. and Ph. D. in Chemistry from Savitribai Phule Pune University. He has vast experience of teaching, research and administration.
Dr Chaskar succeeds Dr. Udhav Bhosle whose term as Vice Chancellor ended on 5th November 2023.
Dr. Prakash Mahanwar, Vice Chancellor of Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar, Solapur University, Solapur was holding the additional charge of the post.
The Governor had constituted a Search Committee under the chairmanship of former Chairman of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Dr. S. S. Mantha to recommend a panel of names suitable for appointment of the Vice Chancellor.
Prof. T. N. Singh, Director of IIT Patna, Vikas Chandra Rastogi, Principal Secretary, Higher and Technical Education and Dr. Meena Chandawarkar Former VC of Karnataka Women’s University (UGC nominee) were the members of the Search Committee.
The Governor announced the name of Dr Manohar Chaskar after interviewing all candidates recommended by the panel.
