Nagpur :- Indira Gandhi National Open University has conducted its 36th Convocation at National Level on 3rd April 2023 at New Delhi. President of India Droupadi Murmu delivered Convocation Address and presented Gold Medals. For the First time, using Blockchain Technology, IGNOU has Digitally distributed around 2.5 lakh Certificates.
IGNOU Nagpur Regional Centre has organised a function to distribute the Certificates of Nagpur Students of the 36th Convocation. Dr. Subhash Chaudhary, Vice Chancellor of RTM Nagpur University was the Chief Guest and addressed the students.
Dr. P. Sivaswaroop, Senior Regional Director of IGNOU Regional Centre in his welcome address said that the Regional Centre has completed Land Registration for the Regional Centre and soon construction work will commence.
He shared various activities conducted in “Reaching the Unreached Sections” of the Society. The Regional Centre conducted Phone in Radio Programmes focusing Women Prisoners, Science Day competitions for Male and Female Prisoners, Gyan Ganga awareness Meetings for CRPF Personnel at Nagpur, Gadchiroli and for CRPF Women Personnel and Family Members. He explained the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan activities for the 5 adopted villages in Nagpur and Gadchiroli Districts. Dr P Sivaswaroop also explained the IGNOU Centres established for ITIs, Jan Shikshan Sansthans and PMKYs in various Districts.
Dr. Subhash Chaudhary, in his address congratulated the degree recipients and shared that he himself was IGNOU student and completed MBA and 2 more Diplomas. He acknowledged that IGNOU system of study material, assignments and examinations are very unique and writing assignments and examination needs thorough study and understanding of the study material.
He asserted that in IGNOU, even through Open Book System also to pass an exam is very difficult, as examination tests the understanding of subject. Dr. Subhash Chaudhary stated that many features of National Education Policy 2020 were already in practice in IGNOU for the last several years, including multiple entry and multiple exit. The Vice Chancellor emphasized that the National Education Policy 2020 emphasizing on skills and Regional Language teaching, so that the education will reach to many and help in creating jobs.
Dr. Subhash Chaudhari distributed the certificates to students. He also handed over 6 Undergraduate and Post Graduate certificates of Prisoners to Lakshman Salve, Coordinator of IGNOU Special Study Centre in Nagpur Central Jail.
Dr. Raju Hiwase, Registrar and Coordinator of IGNOU Study Centre was also present on the dias.

Venkateshwarlu were also present. C. H. Rajgure, Sanjay Patankar, Rajesh Wasnik and Jagdish Tikle worked hard for success of the function.
